Ransomware lane

Encrypted files. You do not have to pay.

Ransomware encrypted your QuickBooks data and the note is demanding payment. Before anyone pays anything, find out what already survives — shadow copies, transaction logs, ADR snapshots, backups. Flat $199 assessment, answer in 24-48 hours, fee credited in full toward recovery.

How we recover without the attackers

Ransomware often announces itself in QuickBooks as error -6150, -1006. It encrypts the files it can see. It is frequently sloppier about everything else — and QuickBooks Desktop scatters recoverable data in more places than most attackers bother with. Our assessment inventories those survivors on your systems and tells you exactly what can be rebuilt, how current it is, and what it will cost. No contact with the attackers, no ransom, no gambling on a decryptor that may never work.

Where QuickBooks data survives an attack

  • Windows shadow copies. Point-in-time volume snapshots. Many strains try to delete them; many fail, or miss a volume.
  • The transaction log (.TLG). Every transaction is duplicated here. A surviving log can be replayed into an older backup to bring it fully current.
  • Auto Data Recovery (ADR). QuickBooks Desktop keeps its own snapshot copies in the ADR folder — often overlooked by attackers.
  • Backups everywhere else. Server backups, .QBB files in email, accountant copies, an old workstation, a USB drive in a drawer. We help you map all of it.
What we do not promise: decryption of the ransomed files themselves. Recovery comes from surviving artifacts, not from breaking the encryption. Anyone guaranteeing decryption is either lying or quietly paying the ransom with your money.

Preserve first, clean up second

The most common way businesses lose recoverable QuickBooks data after an attack is the cleanup: wiping machines, reinstalling Windows, restoring images over infected drives. Every one of those steps can destroy the shadow copies, logs, and snapshots we recover from. Isolate the machines, change passwords from a clean device, and touch nothing else until the assessment is done.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Can you decrypt my encrypted QuickBooks files?
We do not promise decryption of the ransomed files themselves, and you should distrust anyone who does. What we do is different: we hunt for surviving copies of your data — shadow copies, transaction logs, Auto Data Recovery snapshots, overlooked backups — and rebuild from those. In many attacks, more survives than the ransom note wants you to believe.
Should we just pay the ransom?
We never advise paying, and our process does not involve the attackers at all. Payment funds the next attack, frequently fails to produce a working decryptor, and can carry legal exposure. Before anyone considers it, find out what already survives — that is exactly what this assessment tells you.
What are shadow copies, TLG, and ADR?
Three places QuickBooks data commonly survives an attack. Windows shadow copies are point-in-time snapshots some ransomware fails to destroy. The .TLG transaction log duplicates every transaction and can be replayed into an older backup. Auto Data Recovery (ADR) is QuickBooks Desktop's own snapshot folder. Add server backups, workstation copies, accountant copies, and email attachments, and the map of survivors is often bigger than expected.
What does the $199 assessment buy?
A concrete answer within 24-48 hours: what QuickBooks data survives, from which artifact, how current it is, and a firm quote to recover it. The assessment fee is applied in full toward any recovery work we then perform.
What should we do right now?
Isolate the affected machines from the network, do not wipe or reinstall anything, and do not restore backups onto infected systems yet. Preserve everything — the artifacts we recover from are easy to destroy in a rushed cleanup. Then order the assessment or start a free evaluation; upload instructions arrive within 15 minutes.
What if nothing is recoverable?
If we cannot recover your data, you pay nothing. No diagnosis fee, no evaluation fee, no bait-and-switch. If the assessment finds recoverable data and you proceed, the assessment fee is credited in full toward the recovery.
